Hey Kim,

I should know better than to assign people by their last name since my last name starts with an "A." I always had to sit up front in classes and got "selected" first for a lot of assignments. I guess that is why I sat in the back of the class in my college years. Oh, well. The good thing about going early is that it is DONE early!

Rachelle and Jim-
The other good thing about going early is that we have the pick of the litter when it comes to topics! Sorry to everyone else :(
Sometimes it does pay to be assigned like that. And yes it will be done and we can focus on our other assignments as I am sure the semester will only get crazier. Football is going well. We lost our home opener on Friday. It was to the team we lost to in the semi-finals of playoffs last year 48-49 in quadruple overtime. We lost our momentum in the 4th quarter on Friday and they handed it to us. Tough loss for the coaches and players! During the fall with just football I have about 160-175 athletes to tend to. Then there are three volleyball teams, 4 water polo teams, cross country (which we get a lot of kids out for), girls tennis, girls golf, cheer, and the dance team. If I had to guess, I would say that there may be close to 400 athletes during the fall. Not to mention that basketball has open gym times and baseball has some open field things going on. But... no two days are ever the same!!!

WoW! 400 student athletes! That is crazy. When will California ever change how we take care of it's HS student athletes? In Texas, all big schools (like your Kim) have 2 FULL-TIME athletic trainers. All they do is athletic training. No teaching! When will we do the same? I think our kids deserve better. There is no way you can provide care for 400 student athletes. At least you are at the HS. Many HS don't have an ATC. Many here in Fresno and Clovis have college students who have been an athletic training program, but have not even taken the NATABOC yet. We are really hurting our profession.

All right, I'll get off my soapbox now!
